URWERK has unveiled a new limited-edition timepiece honoring the 50th anniversary of the SR-71 Blackbird, the legendary supersonic stealth aircraft designed and built by Lockheed Martin. Dubbed the EMC SR-71, only 10 pieces will be produced, with each watch featuring elements of the SR-71’s titanium fuselage.

This marks the 10-year anniversary of URWERK’s EMC watch line, which combines mechanical watchmaking with electronic monitoring to enable wearers to measure and adjust the timing precision. The EMC was previously crowned “Watch of the Year” and “Best of the Best” for its groundbreaking technology.

The EMC SR-71’s dial mimics the Blackbird’s instrument panel with details like a stealth aircraft-shaped seconds hand. Its in-house mechanical movement is crafted and tested in URWERK’s Geneva workshops to achieve elite chronometric standards. An integrated circuit and optical sensor allow micro-measurements of timing precision against an electronic oscillator.

URWERK co-founder Martin Frei shared, “The EMC SR-71 combines our passion for science fiction, aviation and watchmaking. It’s the ultimate blend of haute horlogerie with aerospace engineering.”

For aviation and watchmaking buffs alike, the EMC SR-71 brings together the best of two worlds—the freedom of flight and the artistry of mechanical timekeeping.

The official retail price tag read 150,000 CHF, or about $175,000.
