The latest addition to the Monaco collection from Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer pays homage to the rich racing heritage of the storied brand. The new Monaco Chronograph Racing Green, limited to only 1000 pieces, evokes the classic color palette of vintage British racing and brings a bold new chapter to this iconic watch line.

When TAG Heuer introduced the Monaco in 1969, it revolutionized watches with the first water-resistant square chronograph. The watch was named after the Monaco Grand Prix and cemented the brand’s ties to professional racing.

That bond was further strengthened in 1970 when Steve McQueen chose to wear the Monaco while filming Le Mans. The move associated TAG Heuer with McQueen’s embodiment of an authentic racing driver and made the Monaco an enduring symbol of the brand’s racing spirit.

Continuing that tradition, the Racing Green utilizes a color deeply rooted in British motorsports history. Green first gained prominence when a Napier 50 painted in the hue took the checkered flag at the 1902 Gordon Bennett Cup. In the decades since, various shades of green have graced celebrated marques from Jaguar, Bentley, and others.

The new Monaco captures the essence of classic UK race cars with its silver sunray dial and facets of yellow and green. The green subdials are an elegant interpretation of the quintessential British racing green. Touches like the yellow chronograph hand and 12 o’clock marker reference the colors that adorned legendary cars.

Powered by the automatic Calibre 11 movement, the watch features a titanium case and sapphire crystal back. Its perforated green strap lined with titanium folding clasp is reminiscent of gentleman drivers from a bygone era. The Monaco Racing Green is limited to 1000 pieces, with each caseback engraved accordingly.
