Porsche’s popular Macan SUV is expanding its all-electric model range with two new variants for 2024. Buying options now include a rear-wheel drive Macan. There is also a more powerful Macan 4S, slotting between the Macan 4 and range-topping Macan Turbo. This cements Porsche’s commitment to an electric future, bringing instant torque and silent performance to its sporty SUVs.
The new Macan 4S boasts a maximum of 509 hp from its front and rear electric motors, rocketing from 0-60 mph in a sports car rivaling 3.9 seconds. This places it firmly at the pinnacle of the Macan lineup in terms of straight-line performance. Underpinning the 4S is Porsche’s 800V architecture, enabling 270kW DC fast charging and providing a real-world range suitable for everyday use.
Interestingly, the new entry-level rear-wheel drive Macan eschews the 4S’s all-wheel drive, in a bid to maximize efficiency and range. Weighing 243 lbs less than its all-wheel drive stablemates, the single-motor Macan still outputs a respectable355 hp—ample for most buyers in this segment.
Visually, the latest Macans remain familiar, featuring the timeless silhouette of the second generation model. Aesthetic enhancements include a new Slate Grey Neo exterior color and 20″ wheel designs. Further elevating the Macan’s already impressive off-road credentials is a new optional package, increasing ride height and approach angle.
The interior also receives a comprehensive upgrade. Porsche’s Driver Experience system modernizes the cabin with a curved 12.6″ instrument display and 10.9″ touchscreen. Augmented reality head-up technology and ambient lighting add a high-tech flair. Users can even match the interior lighting theme to their exterior paint color.
The RWD Macan starts at $75,300 and the Macan 4S at $84,900.
