For the eccentrica millionaira with a penchant for high-dollar four-wheeled sports nostalgia arrives this Lambo resto-mod.

A treat designed to appeal to the kids who dreamed bedroom-wall poster stock Diablos — grown up now, and perhaps wealthy enough to finally drive one home — the idealized version of the 1990s supercar is the initial offering from young Italian specialty company Eccentrica.

The firm is helmed by Emanuel Colombini, and a review of the build and its obsessive degree of careful tuning — every element and every panel has been studied, and subtly revised as necessary — reveals that he was very likely one of the teenaged Diablo dreamers twenty-five or thirty years ago.

The Eccentrica Diablo has enough of the past in it to suggest a dream arrived at, and enough of the present to fulfill contemporary performance expectations. Newer touches include the use of up-to-date materials like 3D-printed titanium and carbon fiber, and an interior sheathed in Alcantara.

Sympathy for the emperor of the air set? Perhaps. But the 19 examples come at a staggering premium that pulls no punches, sentimental or otherwise. The Eccentrica Lamborghini Diablo resto-mod comes at a sticker price of around $1.3 million at current rates.

That’s a bit higher than the roughly $250K original sticker. Make allowances for the elapsing of thirty years, the cost of obsession, and the exorbitant price of postponed fantasy realized.
