Jay-Z and Beyoncé are back in the real estate news with another upper-echelon residential SoCal purchase. The couple recently tossed down $200 million for a Malibu compound designed by award-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando and completed in 2014.

The 45,000 sq. ft. house overlooks Paradise Cove, and needless to say the property includes deeded access to one of the prettiest and most exclusive beaches in the state. There are eight acres to roam on the estate, a suitable setting for a house which has nearly an acre of interiors to wander itself.

The house’s architecture appears to be a mixed bag of modern and futurist; angles are severe, there’s a great deal of glass, and the shared living areas include a diverse and disparate series of terraces and hall-like or corridor-like indoor and outdoor spaces.

One of these spaces is dedicated to the property’s swimming pool; the cavern-like design and steep, high walls of architectural concrete give the spot a tunnel-like aesthetic that targets the Pacific horizon in the distance. Images of indoor rooms available online include a dining room with a table platform that faces a soaring wall of glass and a companion dining terrace beyond.

The house is one of several that the billionaire power couple have actually or supposedly purchased in the past few years. In 2017, they showed interest in a $100 million estate in Bel-Air.
