The newest watch in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Janus-faced ‘Reverso’ series has a lot going for it. The model’s ability to play fraternal twins — brash skeletonized chronograph on the one hand (as it were), and dignified understatement on the other — is only part of the story.

The esteemed Swiss firm calls the timepiece the Reverso Tribute Chronograph. The object of the tribute is the company’s Reverso Chronographe, a notable 1990s design and a hallmark of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s design history.

The Reverso Tribute features Jaeger’s 860 calibre, which is designed with a column wheel for the retrograde 30-minute chronograph. The movement is a new addition to the firm’s mechanical pantheon; it was developed, and is entirely made, in-house. The ‘classic’ face of the Reverso Tribute features a gray-blue dial and baton markers. The watch case is steel.

The dual nature of the timepiece is echoed in the two straps. One is designed by Casa Fagliano, and made of leather; a leather-and-canvas strap is also included.

The Reverso Tribute Chronograph is priced at $21,400.
