The New England estate of Michael Kittredge, the founder of perfumed paraffin powerhouse Yankee Candle Company, is new to the market this summer. Kittredge, a Massachusetts native, had called the property home for decades when he died in 2019, and had the mansion custom built. The estate in Leverett, Massachusetts, is currently listed with a $23 million asking price.

With 120,000 sq. ft. of interiors, the estate is a case study in scale. The main house is a red brick rambler of a two-story with five bedrooms and an extravagant series of shared living spaces that include a huge catering ready kitchen with at least five islands and a two-level ceiling section overhead. Other rooms of note: the glassy semi-rotunda office, which features a dome ceiling and a built-in wraparound desk, and the great room, which features a two-level ceiling and a mezzanine.

The amenities suite on the 60-acre estate makes for an astonishing tour. Highlights include a car collection showroom, a 50,000 sq. ft. spa, a huge outdoor auditorium, an indoor water park, an indoor tennis court and venue with a fireplace and a wet bar, a three lane bowling alley, a video arcade, and the multiple guest houses that bring the property’s accommodations count to 16 bedrooms and 25 baths.
