The Los Angeles roost of avant-garde pop music figure Beck is up for sale this year. It joined the open market in the last week of August, priced at $2.95 million, according to Dirt.
The 2,364 sq. ft. house is in a gated community. A two-level dating to 1948, it features an exterior decorated with a few Craftsman-inspired touches, and a sheltered second-floor entry with a blue front door. Inside, the home is an unfussy creative workspace bordering on the monastic, with natural-toned wide-plank hardwood floors, recently-renovated kitchen and baths, and the occasional skylight.
Space is rendered beautifully in the common area, and there is a sense of breathing room arising out of the vaulted ceilings and, in the living room, sheer length. There’s also more than a bit of Scandinavian influence at work, especially in the bedrooms, where simplicity, warmth and cleanness of line prevail.
Amenities? A recording studio. Buy the place and get busy! Artistic masterpieces are sorely needed in an age of cynicism, technological disconnection, and paranoia.
Beck has owned the home since 2014, if public records are accurate.
Beck has released 14 studio albums, the most recent of which is 2019’s Hyperspace.
