Lamborghini added a new member to the Urus family at this year’s The Quail show in Monterey. The rally-inspired version of the flashy SUV is called the Urus Performante, and it shaves curb weight off the regular production Urus while boosting powertrain numbers and adding performance features.
Lamborghini’s press release on the new Centro Stile-designed variant ends with a declaration: ‘For bar raisers only!’ So, how did Lambo raise the bar? The changes begin with revised exterior design language to suggest competition readiness. The SUV’s ride height has been dropped for better aerodynamics, while the 103.6-pound weight drop gives it a weight-to-power ratio of 3.2. The variant can snap from 0-62 MPH in 3.3 seconds, and reach a top speed of 190.
There’s a lot of carbon fiber on display inside the Urus Performante, and a fair whack of Alcantara to soften and remind that, at the end of the day, most examples sold will never leave the gated communities they sleep in after the sun goes down. The cockpit features digital instrumentation and a pair of touchscreens for navigation and onboard controls and infotainment. Lamborghini Connect includes a suite of techy conveniences. On the list: Vehicle Status Report, Car Finder, Remote Horn and Light, Online Smart Routing, Local Hazard and Traffic Light Information, 3D City View, and Google POI Search.
Lamborghini augmented the reveal of the Urus Performante with a performance accolade: the new ‘super-SUV’ climbed to the summit of Pikes Peak in 10:32:064. In doing so it besting the previous record, set by a Bentley Bentayga in 2018, by nearly twenty seconds.
Pricing for the 2023 Lamborghini Urus Performante starts at $260,676, exclusive of destination charges.
