The Porsche news from this summer’s Monterey Car Week is an upcoming model year entry that merges road-legal with track cred. The 2023 911 GT3 RS comes with a naturally aspirated engine and

The 2023 911 GT3 RS owes much to the track-only 911 GT3 R; it inherited the latter’s active aerodynamics. The centerpiece of the system is the huge rear wing with its swan-neck supports. The layout of the system puts a large radiator in the car’s nose instead of packing in three smaller units; the design makes the model a poor choice as a tourer — luggage space has been sacrificed — but improves the aero, which can now occupy space on the sides of the car otherwise used for additional radiators.

Other track-ready features of the 2023 911 GT3 RS include a pushbutton drag-reduction system controllable from the steering wheel, which flattens the wings; additionally, an airbrake comes into play during abrupt stops to optimize wing placement. Other components of the system included louvered vents, inlets behind the front wheels, a front splitter, and a driver-adjustable suspension for downforce compensation.

As for the engine in the 2023 911 GT3 RS: it’s a 4.0L high-revving six-cylinder boxer that delivers 518 horsepower; it is paired with a seven-speed PDK transmission. Three track modes — Normal, Sport and Track — a pair of seven-inch displays and the track screen from the 911 GT3 also optimize the model for weekend competition. The Weissach package can be added for lighter weight and carbon fiber looks.

The 2023 911 GT3 RS is priced from $223,800, exclusive of destination charge.
