The New York City townhouse previously owned by Ghislaine Maxwell has changed hands once again. The Upper East Side property fetched $16 million this time around. The closing was registered in the final days of June. Maxwell had sold it in 2016 for $15 million.

The residence is twenty feet wide, and shows off a Beaux-Arts façade of red brick and limestone. It was completed in the years leading up to WWI, and has been curated by its owners over the years; the efforts have retained the period feel of the property, as many original details have survived the passing of the decades.

The townhouse’s five floors are serviced by an elevator with a four-person capacity. The property’s garden accessed is granted through the sun room off the kitchen; the rest of the ground level is dedicated to the entrance gallery.

As the residence progresses, a cohesive theme of bright white and hardwood comes into view; exceptional details include the ornate fireplaces that routinely appear — there are eight of them in all, and each appears to be an individual, and that kind of variegated, patient craftsmanship itself speaks to the home’s vintage.

Accommodations in the home include the master that spans the third level; guest rooms are distributed across the fourth and fifth floors; the top floor also features a secondary kitchen, as well as a terrace.

Other Maxwell-related properties that have surfaced recently include her New Hampshire retreat. Her marital home popped up on the market in Massachusetts in the spring with a $7.8 million ask.
