Retired MLB star Ryan Zimmerman upgraded his quarters this summer when he became the first owner of a sprawling suburban mansion in Virginia. The longtime Washington Nationals team member paid $11 million on the nose for the home, a recently completed stone-clad build in the bedroom community of McLean.

The property is situated within the boundaries of the historic Langley Estate. The location, and conceit of the build, is distinguished, and to follow through with the engineered aristocracy the property has been titled Federal Hill.

Listing information has the interior square footage of the four-floor main house on the estate at 20,000. It contains seven bedrooms and ten baths. The house’s size encourages hosting, and the layout of the first level is oriented toward society gatherings, with an entry hall giving way to a great room, where access to the exterior living area, pool and pool house is granted. The kitchen is decked out with a La Cornue range, and supplemented with an auxiliary kitchen for catering, and the third level contains a ballroom with a bar and a cigar room.

Accommodations begin with the owner’s wing, which includes a fireplace sitting room, a fireplace bedroom, a coffee bar, and two cavernous dressing rooms; the suite’s bathroom, too, is outfitted with a fireplace.

A detached two-level one-and-one carriage house on the estate provides guest accommodations.
