Composer Henry Mancini — best known for his catchy and extremely lucrative “Pink Panther Theme,” and for “Moon River” — lived at least part time in this Malibu beach house from 1972 until his death in the early 1990s. The property is a recent addition to the Southern California open market, and makes its entrance tagged at $12.995 million.

The property has apparently remained in the family until now. The sales description for the 1958-built four-bedroom states it hasn’t been offered for sale since Mancini took ownership fifty years ago.

Just off the PCH, the property’s motor court ends with a glass-paned garage door. A set of double doors with frosted glass panes leads through a high concrete privacy wall to an entry courtyard with a fire feature.

Details of the interiors include a wood-burning fireplace finished with figured, book-matched stone, and multiple raw wood semi-vaulted ceilings; individual spaces include a dining room which extends onto the lower balcony and features glass on three sides and a built-in L-shaped bench seat.

Two of the bedrooms feature private balconies overlooking the beach, which is accessible by a staircase from the lower level.

Mancini topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with 1969’s “Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet.”
