About a month ago, Thomas Flohr, the Swiss billionaire founder of VistaJet, listed his modern villa in Bel Air with an asking price of $63.5 million. The refined 15,000 sq. ft. leviathan has recently seen a price cut, and is presently tagged at $58 million.

The six-bed, ten-bath house dates to 2020. Materials at work in the two-story home include rusticated limestone blocks, which give the home a remarkably aristocratic earthiness for a modern. Its interiors begin with a pivoting front door before progressing to a series of ebullient living spaces; the home’s sense of proportion is emphatically projected by the massive accent wall in the common area that both gives room to room definition and houses a lengthy linear fireplace. The levels are connected by a floating sculptural staircase with wood treads. Upstairs accommodations include a master bedroom with a large wood-burning fireplace and corner glass.

The outdoor lifestyle of the house is at least as extensive as its interiors, as it is capped by a rooftop garden terrace that measures in at 5,000 sq. ft., and has on its ground level an infinity pool and living area and a little park-like section studded with planters sprouting ancient olive trees.

Specialty rooms in the house include a wood-paneled library, a formal dining room, and a theater.

Flohr’s net worth was estimated by Forbes at $2.3 billion in 2018.
