BMW’s newest limited-edition variant is a celebration of a model: the M3. It’s been 50 years since the performance automotive sub-brand was formed to both define the automaker and give its faithful purer expressions of driver enthusiasm, and to mark the occasion BMW has a host of special options available.
And a special model or two. The M3 Edition 50 Jahre is one such limited-edition offering, a 500-example production run vehicle that comes dressed in a restored unique color from M3s of years past. The M3s used for the shoot are finished in Techno Violet and Deep Interlagos Blue; additional M3-oriented colors available include Limerock Grey.
Badging is of course plentiful on the 50 Jahre M3, with BMW reviving the M Motorsport colors for the wheels, trunk and hood. Carbon fiber components specific to the edition include a quartet of M pipes, as well as a front splitter and trunk lip.
The edition will ride on BMW Style 826M forged wheels in a shade of gray that is not available otherwise. M Carbon Ceramic brakes can be optioned, and they come with gold calipers. Inside the cabin, the new BMW curved screen takes center stage up front; driver-assistance kit that comes standard is extensive, right down to help during parking.
BMW has priced the M3 50 Jahre Edition from $96,695, destination included.
