One of the more remarkable houses in Venice, California, the ‘Hollywood Bowl House’, is back on the open market with a price cut this spring. The property is currently owned by actors Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, who are asking $11 million for it. The couple initially listed the residence at $14 million in the summer of 2020.
The house gets its name from the reclaimed timber used extensively to express its exterior architecture and warm up its harder edges and concrete; the wood was rescued from a seating renovation at the Hollywood Bowl and used to great effect by David Hertz architects. The property’s demarcation wall also uses wood from the source.
The home’s 7,102 sq. ft. of interiors begin with a glass front door flanked by a sidelight and capped by a transom, lighting up the interior and giving the impression of invitational warmth from the front walk. The shared living space is very open, with judicious use of cool tones; details include a built-in bench seat in the breakfasting alcove, a retractable glass wall and a spiral staircase. The combination space’s most compelling corner may be its extraordinarily bright kitchen.
The home’s outdoor living spaces include a pergola-covered outdoor dining area and a semi-enclosed courtyard deck and swimming pool.
