The elevated Malibu modern of actress Kristen Stewart is back on the open market for another go this spring. The BAFTA Award winner initially listed the property in the late summer of 2020, asking $9.5 million. The current listing tags the five-bedroom, five-bath at $8.5 million. A million off the top should do the trick in short order.

The disarmingly quaint, Googie-inspired, 5,800 sq. ft. modern dates to 1993, but recalls the first half of the 1960s with its whimsical roofline, glass exterior, cool ocean colors, and surprising angles. The lower section, in concrete, gives way to a nest-like upper living area with fine views of the neighborhood and ocean. The serene Pacific coastal panorama from the rooftop deck is a major selling point.

The home’s interior living style is greatly informed by the views afforded by the home’s architecture. Frosted glass panels, honey-toned hardwood, a wood-burning fireplace, and built-in bookshelves are among the details. The kitchen’s cabinetry is a highlight; the simple functionality and beauty of the figured hardwood is full-blooded midcentury modern.

Stewart has since moved from the address, a shift from one type of engaging period detail to another. Her new pad is a 1927-vintage Los Feliz Mediterranean Revival. She closed on it for $6 million during the winter of 2021.

Sterwart recently showed off her acting chops with a critically acclaimed turn as Princess Diana in Spencer. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance and was a serious contender for the statuette.
