Singer, songwriter and producer Nile Rodgers listed his escapist East Coast residence in bucolic Westport, Connecticut late this winter, tagging the property at $5.25 million.

The 1953-built architectural curiosity — it’s something of a traditional with modernist sympathies — spans 5,609 sq. ft., and contains five bedrooms and five baths. It is divided into two wings with oversized glass that are connected by a single-level section.

The home’s interiors are as optimistic, and they’re extraordinarily buoyant as well; the living room is bright and expansive, with exposed ceiling supports adding a touch of rusticity, and bright white paint keeping the photons bounding about. There’s also a vaguely nautical element to the interiors.

More overtly nautical is the deep-water dock, which extends from the .5-acre lot, jutting out into a picturesque and very New England sheltered waterway, Bermuda Lagoon. Other amenities on the property include a charming den, an exercise pool, a gym, and plentiful balcony and deck space.

Rodgers’ influence on the music world as a whole is difficult to overstate. Over 500 million albums sold bear his name in the credits, either as performer, songwriter, or producer.
