Months after the on-set tragedy of Rust, Alec Baldwin appears to be putting down roots in Vermont. The multiple SAG and Emmy Award-winning actor purchased a property in a hamlet on the Western side of the Green Mountain National Forest. ‘Ice Pond Farm’, as it is known, closed at $1.75 million smack dab in the middle of February.
The residence is a Colonial farmhouse with interiors that span 3,619 sq. ft. A modest home, but one with a profound sense of history: it went up in 1792. It is joined on the property by a large guest house and a couple of barns — one for horses, and one for dairy cows.
For its new owner, the property’s primary amenity is likely its 55 meditative acres’ worth of breathing room; mountain views, and a fair paradise in the warmer months when the flora — including an apple orchard — springs back to life. But there is a sauna on the property, and a very appealing sunroom as well. The living style is simple and classically Northeast, with fireplaces, brick accents, wide-plank floors (probably pine), and beamed ceilings.
Baldwin’s upcoming projects include Supercell, with Anne Heche, and 97 Minutes, with Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
