German automotive tuner and Mercedes expert Brabus branched out into two-wheeled exotics recently, and the result is the 1300 R. The bike represents a partnership between Brabus and Austrian motorcycle firm KTM. Only 154 examples of the 1300 R will be built (77 in Magna Red and 77 in Signature Black). KTM had the order book open for all of one minute and 55 seconds before they were all spoken for. The base price was set to $58,396.

The 1300 R uses the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO as a foundation, but you’d be hard pressed to find a component that hasn’t seen the Brabus touch. Brabus likes carbon fiber perhaps even more than most uptown sport tuners, and the 1300 R shows off quite a bit in a glossy, naked finish. A red-on-matte-black color scheme enhances the look.

The 1300 R features an adjustable shift lever, Brabus Monoblock Z wheels — which have nine spokes instead of the ten used for the company’s Z-designated car wheels — a round headlamp, and a touchscreen-adjustable suspension. The bike’s available 180 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque comes from KTM’s 1.3L V-twin.

The tuning shop has made a statement of its initial motorcycle build, and its all-in spirit indicates more may be on the way.
