Soccer Megastar Cristiano Ronaldo Sells Trump Tower Condo for $7.2M—$11.3M Below Purchase

Cristiano Ronaldo’s spending sprees have accumulated numerous supercars—including a Bugatti Chiron and, possibly, the Centodieci—as well as Gulfstream G200 and G650 jets. In the late summer of 2015, Ronaldo also picked up a pied-a-terre in Manhattan; the address was Trump Tower, and the closing sapped $18.5 million from his coffers.

Ronaldo sold the 2,510 sq. ft. unit back in October. The property exited his portfolio at a significant loss, however; the fleet-footed footballer accepted an offer of $7.18 million for it. That’s a massive loss; for many people, it would register as a fortune. But Ronaldo’s career earnings exceed $1 billion, and for the 2021-2022 season he’s pulling down around $125 million, so he can afford not to care. Back when he made the purchase, he was nursing the hope of playing in the MLS, or so the rumor went. But things didn’t materialize, and the condo likely sat empty. He now apparently decided it was better to sell at a loss and move on than carry the condo in his portfolio until the market got better.

As for the unit, it’s a characteristically glitzy entry in the gilded consumerist high-rise pantheon. It contains three bedrooms and four bathrooms. Interiors are decked out with wood paneling and black and white limestone floors in an abstract pattern. A gallery finished in koa and a living area floored with inlaid oak are among the more striking spaces.

The views get top billing here, though; through the upper-floor unit’s glass is a panorama of Central Park and the city.

Ronaldo recently became the first person to amass 400 million followers on Instagram. That’s star power, baby.
