The last time we heard from Big Bang Theory alum Simon Helberg, he was investing in a former haunt of Vince Vaughn. The 4,000 sq. ft. Spanish-style in Los Feliz ran the actor $6.9 million in 2019, and entered his portfolio about two years after he purchased an idyllic hobbyist horse farm in Carpinteria for $5.2 million.

The most recent real estate news from Helberg concerns another acquisition. Again, the house is something of a gem. Designed by Frederick Louis Roehrig and completed in 1906, the seven-bedroom, three-level house is situated at the end of a long, gated, tree-lined drive.

Roehrig had a taste for stylistic extravagance, and the house is something of a storybook, with a steeply pitched, slate-tile roof, leaded glass, Tudor accents, and red brick. Interiors include beamed ceilings, plank accents and ceilings, built-in shelving, and narrow-plank floors. The living area spans two levels, and features a formal dining room, a small wet bar, a red brick fireplace, an elevator, a marble-clad powder room, and a large kitchen with a pantry.

The house sits on a 1.25-acre lot that features a tennis court and a goodly sized swath of lawn. In back it is landscaped as a single extended garden, and dominated by a massive flagstone patio that unfolds toward a pool and pool house. This elevated and escapist outdoor living area is inset with a bar, a fire feature, and numerous raised or ground-level plantings.

Helberg’s upcoming projects include As Sick as They Made Us, with Candice Bergen and Dustin Hoffman. Directing the feature is fellow Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik.
