Billionaire Jeff Skoll Selling Beverly Hills Aerie for $25M

Socially minded film producer Jeff Skoll hefted his substantial Beverly Hills hilltop estate onto the open market this winter. The compound is a combination of two residential properties; according to Dirt, the former eBay exec marketed both at $33 million in the middle of January. But he apparently was not averse to selling them piecemeal.

A month later, and the larger of the two estates is in contingent status. Alone, it asked $24.995 million, and may well close at that figure. The nest-like property spans nearly an acre, and is crowned by a 7,500 sq. ft. home containing five bedrooms and at least six baths.

The mansion is a deco-inspired single-level modern completed in 1999. The extravagant curves of its sculptural exterior are echoed throughout the interiors, and the outdoor living space, from the full-size wet bar and its shelving that provides a focus to the living room to the infinity-edge pool that gives the illusion of connection with the city in the distance.

Indoor living spaces occasionally hint at the ethereal, with honey-toned hardwood and natural stone accents, windows, French doors and cabinetry preventing the living style from floating away; most effective is the living room, where warm off-white and very pale green are the rule of thumb, and a graceful fireplace accent wall in limestone rises to the ceiling.

The kitchen’s mix of warm wood, green marble, coffered ceiling with frosted panels, and dark red window trim is very 1990s, but holds up well in the 2020s. In the master suite, glossy hardwood cabinetry and an elegantly executed if dark bath — one of two in the master layout — are similarly effective.

The home’s patio wraps around the rear of the home, with a slatted balustrade marking the dramatic back border of the property.

Skoll’s upcoming projects—as executive producer—include White Bird: A Wonder Story, with Gillian Anderson and Helen Mirren.

Skoll’s net worth is north of $5 billion, according to Forbes.
