Last year, Mercedes revealed a 2022 C-Class with a substantial difference: the powertrains of the entire entry-level lineup was converted to hybrid. Out went the six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines, and in came a four with 48-volt starter/generator.

Mercedes also decided to sweeten the pot by transferring S-Class features to the entry-level lineup. In particular, the tech of the S-Class has been adopted, including the 11.9-inch central touchscreen with its ‘portrait orientation’ positioning, and the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.

As far as the overall design is concerned, notable changes include the position of the cabin; it’s been pushed back, giving the 2022 C-Class a more classic look and driving experience. Inside the cabin, changes include redesigned seats.

The 2022 C-Class will be offered in three trim levels. The base C-Class, which is priced from $44,600, is Pinnacle; Exclusive occupies the middle position, and comes at a $2K premium, with the Premium trim C-Class starting at $48,550. 4MATIC adds another $2K to the tally. Deliveries begin in the spring.
