The BMW iX, the company’s new SUEV, is getting a lot of exposure at the launch of 2022. BMW brought a pair to this year’s CES: one clad in a color-shift wrap, the other packing a roll-away 31-inch screen in its headliner.
More recently, the automaker announced an M60 variant of the all-electric getabout. The performance-oriented version of the iX comes with xDrive standard. It boasts a torque rating which, the BMW press release states, represents a historical record for the company: the car’s 610 horsepower is nearly overshadowed by its 811 pound-feet of muscle.
The iX M60 also receives a suite of performance features standard, including M-specific dual-axle air suspension with automated level control, and actuator-based wheel slip limitation. It can sprint to 62 MPH in 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155. Its range on a full charge is a very respectable 280 miles.
The first model year of the iX M60 will be 2023.
