Earlier this year, soccer prodigy Lionel Messi picked up a second high-rise condo in Miami. The unit in Sunny Isles Beach came with a price tag of $7.3 million, but gave Messi a full floor to dribble in.
Not bad, but the fleet-footed Argentinian bought into the Porsche Design Tower, also in Sunny Isles Beach, in 2019, paying $5 million for a two-bedroom, five-bath residence with 3,130 sq. ft. of interiors. In October, it appeared for sale on the open market at $7 million. It is back in December with an ask of $7.85 million.
The condo’s most appealing feature is its soaring great room ceiling, and the two levels of oversize glass that creates a breathtaking sense of unity with the eagle-eye views of the city and ocean. Furnishings were provided by Artefacto.
The Porsche building’s amenities include an elevator that brings cars up into an owner’s condo; a showroom of sorts, it becomes part and parcel of the unit’s décor.
Messi was the second-highest paid athlete in the world in 2021, according to Forbes. He raked in a cool $130 million. UFC fighter Conor McGregor topped the list with $180 million in earnings. The figures include sponsorships and other business deals.
