EV maker Polestar flexed its tech muscle this week when it revealed that a horsepower-boosting tune to its Polestar 2 model can be conducted in the ether. The optional upgrade is another sign that auto manufacturers are turning to post-purchase subscriptions and fees to beef up their bottom lines; several car makers are adopting similar strategies in their revenue models.

The recalibration gives the dual-motor variant of the luxury sedan a power bump to 469 HP and 502 pound-feet of torque, approximating the tuned-up Polestar 2 that performed admirably at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. The power upgrade is not accompanied by any other upgrades, however.

The service may be purchased through the company website and downloaded over the air for simple home installation. The process is similar to Polestar’s ‘Engineered Optimization’ program for Volvo models.

Pricing for the Polestar 2 stars at $38,400.
