Philanthropist billionaire Sue Gross added to her estate in Beverly Hills by picking up a next-door estate anchored by a 5,367 sq. ft. modern-tinged Tuscan. The countryside-inflected house, a rustic five-bedroom with at least four baths, sits on a lot measuring nearly half an acre. Gross paid $16.05 million for the keys.

The modern flourish of the façade, and the steel-framed double doors that mark the main entrance, add an unexpected dimension to the house, and pop up in the rear of the property. Otherwise, the exterior sticks to the Tuscan conceit, with stone-clad and stucco walls, a tile roof, and a brick-lined arched doorway, a bit of exposed wood, and a handful of cozy-looking covered terraces.

Inside the home, the blend of modern and Mediterranean rustic continues, with rough natural stone or semi-gloss plank hardwood floors, the occasional raw ceiling, wood paneling, plank shelves, and modern-style built-in bookshelves. Amenities include an office and library, a guest suite and, outside, a pool with a deck and a cabana, and an outdoor living room with a fireplace presided over by a forceful, planar modern flourish of a roof.

Last August, Gross put a different house adjacent to her estate up for sale. This is the 1966-built modern that she quietly purchased from Ellen DeGeneres for $35 million back in 2018. She is currently asking $38 million for it.

Gross’s net worth is around $1.5 billion.
