A beach house that had been a longtime presence in the real estate portfolio of actor Leonardo DiCaprio sold this autumn after a long run on and off the open market.

The airy and tasteful 1,765 square-footer fetched $10.3 million when it closed in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. The Academy Award winner initially listed it in 2016 with a $10.95 million asking price.

Over the five years that elapsed between that listing and the recent closing, the house saw only one price reduction, although it was offered as a short-term, $25K-per-month rental for at least one summer, and stood at $10 million when it changed hands recently for $10.3 million.

The home’s charm emerges from a wealth of carefully considered details. Tones are cool, with soft blues predominating to echo the Pacific; floor-to-ceiling tile in the baths, counter-to-ceiling in the kitchen—the latter arranged in a herringbone pattern that doesn’t exclude the vent hood. The house is of course designed with upper and lower decks, and from the latter a set of steps descends Carbon Beach-ward.

The property is one of at least two Malibu homes DiCaprio has passed on to new owners in the past decade; in late 2013, he accepted an offer of $17.35 million for his rustic-come-modern compound in the Colony.

DiCaprio’s upcoming projects include Don’t Look Up, with Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Cate Blanchett, and Meryl Streep, and Killers of the Flower Moon, with Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, and John Lithgow.
