The Audi R8 V10 Performance RWD is back for 2022. For the upcoming model year, entry-level top-tier performance car from the German automaker receives a modest horsepower boost, a few cosmetic tweaks, and optional packages.

The Performance RWD R8 is the replacement for the outgoing rear wheel drive R8 model, which has been in production since 2018 when it was introduced as the limited-edition RWS. In late 2019, the RWD R8 was introduced as a regular production car for the 2020 model year.

The 2022 R8 V10 Performance RWD ekes a bit more power out of its naturally aspirated ten-cylinder burner, bringing the horsepower rating up to 562 from the outgoing version’s 532. A token bump in torque accompanies the rating: the 2022 iteration’s number increases to 406 pound-feet from 398. The Coupe can reach 62 MPH in 3.7 seconds.

For 2022, the refreshed R8 can be ordered with a performance-oriented suite of components called the Dynamic Package; among the goodies included are racing seats, carbon-ceramic brakes, and five-spoke, 20-inch titanium-finish wheels. For those who like customizing their exhaust, they can do so from the steering wheel if they opt in on the Sports Exhaust Package; that kit also includes black exhaust tips.

The RWD designation distinguished from its pricier sibling, the R8 V10 Performance Quattro. According to Audi, pricing for the 2022 R8 models starts at $148,700.
