An early Frank Lloyd Wright is up for sale to close out the summer. The house is known as the K.C. DeRhodes House. It is located in South Bend, Indiana, and priced at $750K.
The 2,769 sq. ft. house contains five bedrooms and 2.5 baths. It dates to 1906, and is designed in the Prairie style. It features U-shaped banks of decorative windows that open up the interiors nicely, a flat roof, and little attached tiled courtyard terraces front and back.
The interiors have been preserved through the years, and restorations have been sensitive. There’s an abundance of original hardwood in the home — floors, doors, accents and trim, built-ins, mantels, cabinetry — and nearly all of it is oak, although some pine sneaks in. Renovations include the earthy pale green subway tile in the kitchen, and the greens and yellows that pop up as paint colors.
The home’s present owners have kept it in the family for decades. The K.C. DeRhodes House hasn’t been offered for sale for nearly fifty years.
