Porsche closed out the month of June with a reveal: the 2022 Cayenne Turbo GT. The addition to the lineup of the popular Cayenne model is a new performance benchmark for Porsche’s crossover series, and as a gran turismo variant takes the position of top-tier offering among its brethren.

The new carbon fiber-intensive Cayenne is no speedy one-trick pony, though. Because of its crossover usage profile, it can play the part of daily family getabout and vacationist escapist just as readily as it can be a vehicle for rural route hell-raising.

The Turbo GT is outfitted with the V8 biturbo of the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, but it gets 90 additional horsepower out of the engine—631 HP in all, with a muscular 626 pound-feet of torque making it possible to haul a large fifth wheel. It has the potential to confidently tackle unforgiving terrain and challenging gradient but for its ride height, which puts it 17mm lower than the Cayenne Turbo Coupe; a clearance boost would be necessary for off-road fringers.

But the speed is there, and drivers looking to launch to 60 in 3.1 seconds will enjoy themselves immensely. Porsche details a track performance of the new variant with staff driver Lars Kern behind the wheel: a 12.9-mile lap at the Nürburgring in 7:38.9 minutes.

A stiffer suspension, retuned PASM, steering systems, and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus are a few of the performance tweaks and additions to the GT. The Cayenne Turbo GT also receives a titanium exhaust, a modified 8-speed Tiptronic S gearbox, and water-cooled Porsche Traction Management.

Deliveries for the Cayenne Turbo GT are expected in the first quarter of next year. It comes with a base sticker of $180,800, less fees.
