Pop star Katy Perry picked up this home in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood toward the end of 2018. At the time, speculation tended to conclude the property had been purchased as a guest house—a $7.5 million guest house; less than two years before, in the spring of 2017, Perry had acquired a 5,500 sq. ft. modern-inspired mansion in Beverly Crest to the tune of about $18 million.
But the 1960-built 4,410 sq. ft. traditional returned to the market in the fall of 2020 with an $8 million asking price, and the subsequent eighteen months saw a price snip or two. But literal shots in the arm have led, market-wise, to a figurative shot in the arm, and a healthy rebound buying trend netted the home a new owner this week. In the end, Perry was in for $7.5 million, and out for $7.5 million.
The one-acre property’s grounds are particularly appealing; the outdoor living area is hemmed in partially with a high staggered border wall, with a hillside behind the home, hedges and mature trees also contributing to the seclusion of the spot. A water feature, small pool and a charming patio complete the scene.
The home’s interiors pack most of the shared space into a single-level section of the home, with sets of French doors and pale wide-plank hardwood giving the living areas a bright, breezy feel. There are four bedrooms and five baths in this house, with a wet bar and a guest suite numbering among the amenities.
Perry recently announced a residency at Resorts World Las Vegas. Dubbed Katy Perry: Play, it kicks off on December 29.
