After over two years on the market, the detail-rich Los Feliz villa of actress Kirstie Alley has found a new owner. The property sold this spring for $7.8 million; it was initially listed in the late autumn of 2018 with an $11.97 million ask and saw a price reduction to $10.75 million in 2019.

The 7,000 sq. ft. Italianate was constructed in 1931. A tough year, but this house was certainly intended as a defiant statement to the contrary, and a continuation of 1920s excess. It leads off with a Corinthian-column flanked recessed entry that’s decorated with carved stone, and a set of oak doors inset with wrought iron panels. The foyer is lined with hand-painted frescoes, and features a herringbone-pattern oak floor and a curved staircase.

Custom millwork, stenciled trim, gilt, carved stone—including a rococo fireplace—antique light fixtures, and carved pocket doors all make appearances during a tour of this extraordinary house.

The kitchen features walls covered in soft green tile and a groin-vaulted ceiling, a step-up dayroom, and plank hardwood. A room purposed by Alley as a children’s playroom features rondel panes, exposed beams, and a chandelier which comes off like a magic trick. The master bath is aquamarine in color and spirit, and is worth the price of admission by itself.
