Moskito Island, the newest resort in the Virgin Limited  Edition lineup, is open and available for rental. The resort occupies the second island in the British Virgin Islands to be purchased by Richard Branson, the Virgin Group founder.

Branson purchased the first of his two British Virgin Islands, 74-acre Necker Island, in 1978, for $180K against a $6 million original asking price. Moskito required a considerably weightier outlay. Branson purchased the island—which is located just north of Virgin Gorda in the archipelago, and two miles from Necker—in 2007, for £10 million. He offered individual lots on the island for sale.

The Branson Estate resort property is comprised of three villas—Headland House, Beach Villa, and Mangrove Villa—as well as a large recreation area with dining pavilions, a tennis pavilion, and a watersports center. All told, there are accommodations for 22 guests across the three discrete structures, and all structures are connected by wooden walkways.

Headland House is the largest residence, and positioned on a dramatic promontory outcrop. It sleeps six guests across three bedrooms, and boasts a large upper-floor great room with striking views, as well as an infinity pool that extends from the entry to the master suite. The Beach Villa sleeps eight across four bedrooms; the Mangrove Villa features a second-floor wraparound deck.

The Moskito Island estate can be booked for 2021 in its entirety—11 double-occupancy rooms in all—or by guests traveling alone or in smaller groups. Rates for exclusive use of all rooms starts at $25,000/night.

His feet may be in the water, but Branson’s head is in the cloud—or a bit beyond. His Virgin Galactic and Virgin Orbit ventures aim to carry humans, satellites, and presumably anything else that can afford the trip, into space.

Branson’s net worth is around $5 billion.
