New Zealander Taika Waititi—postmodern vampire number one in What We Do in the Shadows, as well as co-director and co-writer of the film that launched the franchise—listed this early-1960s, modern-inflected traditional in Studio City this month. The 2,323 square-footer is priced at $2.75 million. And, although Petyr has been nesting in the attic, Waititi assured us that he’s been advised the house is active on the open market.

From the street, the four-bedroom home casts a charming spell; a prominent bay with a double-pane picture window, dark blue trim on off-white, a retaining wall, a privacy fence, and varied plantings.

Inside, its midcentury design elements are more prominent. In the living room, a raw plank ceiling, a stone fireplace accent wall with a hearth seat, built-in planters, and plentiful glass on both exterior walls accumulate into a timeless living style. The kitchen/dining room is more expressive still; a partial divider separates the spaces, which respectively boast counter-to-ceiling turquoise tile and a white-and-navy waterfall island, and a built-in bench seat for dining.

Outside, the location blossoms into a dandy view: plentiful green-and-growing, with little in the way of urban clutter fans out from the patio’s overlook, while a set of brick-and-tile steps descend to a perfect little brick-bordered, kidney-shaped pool and sunlounge.

Waititi directs the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Thor: Love and Thunder, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Chris Pratt, and sports comedy Next Goal Wins, which stars Michael Fassbender and Elisabeth Moss.
