Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have sold their Boston-area estate after a long spell on and off the market.

The retired NFL star and model first listed the Richard Landry-designed mansion in the upscale Beantown suburb of Chestnut Hill in the late summer of 2019. Originally, the couple had hoped for an offer in the near vicinity of $40 million. But the couple’s residences were piling up—with homes in two flashy Manhattan residential buildings and another to come in Florida—and after only a couple of months the property’s ask was cut to $33.9 million.

The property sold just before Christmas after being whisper-listed for $32.5 million, according to the Boston Globe. The identity of the new owner is not currently known.

The architect, Richard Landry, is a Los Angeles-area celebrity of sorts known for building extravagant postmodern trophy mansions. The former estate of the Brady-Bundchen collective is a ~12,000 sq. ft. red brick affair sporting a broad spectrum of styles in its exterior flourishes, including a cupola that appears to have been lifted on the sly from a Hamptons shingle-style, a series of 19th-century baronial touches that suggest the golden age of the robber baron, and more contemporary influences.

The home’s interiors are refined, and balance modernity with tradition nicely. It’s at its best when it liberates; the solarium dayroom and glass-flanked living room with vaulted ceiling and exposed beams are two of its more attractive spaces.

The house sits on a lot measuring about five acres, with a barn-style guest house positioned at a strategic remove amid the exterior elements of this Northeastern estate: forest, lawns, pool, and gardens.

Brady’s transactions aren’t limited to land; he recently purchased a Wajer 55 S boat.
