As investor Ken Griffin completes the sale of his penthouse in Miami Beach’s boutique condo building Faena House—the property changed hands this month for $35 million—he is in the process of acquiring property on nearby Star Island, an idyllic and very desirable self-contained neighborhood in Biscayne Bay.

Apparently the purchase of a Star Island property last summer which had been attributed to Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez went to Griffin instead. The Citadel CEO purchased the finished estate for $32.5 million. That home is a Florida Mediterranean-style that measures 15,000 sq. ft., and contains ten bedrooms and eleven baths; it sits on a lot that measures in at about an acre. The interiors of the 2003-constructed home feature atmospheric LED backlighting, marble floors, and wood trim and surrounds. Its master suite boasts a spa bath with an onyx shower.

However, Griffin, who has already managed to put together a compound up the coast in Palm Beach—estimated at over $350 million—is apparently putting together another on Star Island, according to The Real Deal. The August closing of $32.5 million preceded a more recent sale in the community, an undeveloped lot, which Griffin picked up for $25 million. The two properties are not adjacent, however, and in order to connect them Griffin had to contend with another undeveloped lot between, which is about twice the size of the one he just purchased.

He did so, also in August, to the tune of $37 million. The acquisitions represent a total investment on the Island of around four acres, at a combined cost of about $95 million. The combined value of the properties, which now form a single contiguous compound, is likely well over $100 million.

Griffin’s flair for trophy properties and sharpness of execution have no equal in the world of real estate, even among multi-billionaires. He doesn’t seem to have hit on a trophy on the west coast just yet—at least not to our knowledge. May we suggest this little slice of the 90210?
