Elin Nordegren’s former estate in Palm Beach has changed hands yet again.

The property, which Ms. Nordegren listed in 2019 with a $49.5 million ask, sold to energy drink billionaire Russell Weiner in the final days of last summer for $28.6 million. Weiner didn’t hang onto the place for very long, though, as investor Robert F. Smith came along with a $48.2 million offer for it, which Weiner was quite happy to accept.

What Smith now owns is one of the more extraordinary compounds in Palm Beach. The 26,000 sq. ft. main mansion is designed mainly in the Caribbean style, with hipped and/or plank ceilings, cane wall covering, and built-in shelving setting a tone of warmth. It can be glamorous, of course, and the marble wet bar that services the transition room overlooking the water is a good example of one of the home’s more striking flourishes, as is the three-level chandelier that gives an unusual context to a stairwell.

The home theater’s soft glitz is among the mansion’s amenities. Others include a wine room with a custom chandelier that puts a pleasing aesthetic spin on recycling and a lavish home gym. The grounds occupy a nearly 1.5-acre slice of the Seminole Landing neighborhood. A pool with a spa and a water slide, lawns, lush tropical landscaping and generous patio and terrace space complete the estate.

Robert F. Smith’s net worth is estimated at $5 billion, while Weiner’s is said to be around $4 billion.
