This week the Hemsworth frères listed a property in Malibu that has served as a family getaway for a little more than four years. The brothers selected inland space over sardine-can beachfront; Point Dume is some distance to the south, but the lot measures 1.31 acres, enough land for considerable breathing room.
The house is a modern with a late 1970s vintage. There’s a little desert style in the design, with desert flora prominent in the landscaping that frames the home.
Inside: white, pale neutral and natural tones are the rule of thumb; the media room’s eggplant-colored walls stand out as powerfully singular. The home is breezy, open and relaxed. Details include built-in shelving, exposed beams, and concrete floors.
There are four bedrooms and four baths in the 4,612 sq. ft. house. More attractive rooms include the kitchen—flashy utilitarian, with white and hardwood cabinetry, a pair of floating shelves, and a little commercial stainless—and the master bath, a spa design which features a freestanding soaking tub, a subtly patterned steam shower, a double vanity with raised basins, and a picture window taking in a particularly meditative bit of flora.
But the outdoor living space is the gem, and the interiors open to the patios frequently via sliding glass to cite both the landscaping—which includes gardens, wooden steps, and lawns—and the views from the hilltop location.
Chris Hemsworth starred in Netflix action-thriller Extraction; the film was released earlier this year and became the most watched original film in Netflix history. Liam Hemsworth starred in Arkansas earlier this year alongside Vince Vaughn and John Malkovich. Luke Hemsworth starred in last year’s Crypto alongside Kurt Russell and Alexis Bledel.
