Derek Jeter Asking $29M for Tampa Mansion Where Tom Brady Is Residing

Last spring, we wrote up Tom Brady’s rental: Derek Jeter’s be-all-and-end-all mansion in Tampa. Come fall, and the house is now on the open market. Jeter is offering it for $29 million, though Brady continues to live there, per an agreement between the two of them.

Brady faced a slightly vexing issue when he first moved in: his mega-stardom naturally started to attract curious and excited fans. “I forgot people could drive up to your house,” Brady told Howard Stern. “Here they can pull right up to the back of the house. Derek did a pretty good job of screening it. I am a little bit of an introvert. I feel like my house is my place I can relax. When you are outside the house, you understand everything with being me… in the backyard there’s a lot of boats that have pulled up and people at the front.”

The home is every bit the luxurious trophy it claims to be. The project was completed in 2011, but it was a long process. According to the New York Times, Jeter purchased the lots between 2005 and 2006, and set about custom building the rather assertive home; among locals, the property became known as ‘St. Jetersburg’.

The waterfront lot extends to 1.2 acres, but the grounds are mostly occupied by the house, although a pool and lavish, 9,000 sq. ft. patio and terrace complex stands between the massive structure and the waterway, and the front side carves out a luxurious motor court, porte-cochere, and landscaped island.

The home’s interiors are generally tasteful. There’s a great deal of dark wood, and of course marble tiles, requisite equipment for the climate. Massive panes of glass help the 22,000 square-footer express its imperious sense of scale, but the great room’s sheer size is its most compelling statement when it comes to inspiring a touch of awe.

Amenities in St. Jetersburg include a home theater with an atmospherically lit coffered ceiling, a fitness room, a dock with boat lifts, a clubroom with a wet bar, and guest and staff accommodations that includes an in-law apartment and au pair wing.

As for real estate holdings up north, Jeter listed his New York castle for $14.8 million back in 2018. Brady’s Massachusetts mansion was available for $33.9 million earlier this year but was taken off the market due to the current pandemic.

Jeter is a five-time World Series champion. Brady is a six-time Super Bowl champion.
