Dior Jewelry’s newest collection uses precious and semi-precious stones to conjure the colors of tie-dye clothing, which is having something of a revival right now.

Dior calls the collection ‘Tie & DIOR’. It’s the brainchild of Victoire de Castellane, who heads up Dior’s jewelry division, and has been its guiding spirit for over two decades. To achieve the tie-dyed effect in the pieces—which include earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings—Ms. de Castellane used garnets, emeralds, rubies, and tourmaline, among other gemstones. Carefully dyed pearls are also featured in the pieces.

A design sensibility which makes the earrings in the series enduringly appealing is Ms. de Castellane’s interest in asymmetry. This breaking of formality gives the earrings sets a charming sense of the accidental, injecting the look with a spirit of bohemian insouciance; as the colors suggest the whimsical and creative, the asymmetry brings a carefree spirit to the accessories.

At over 100 pieces, the collection makes a substantial addition to the Dior Jewelry catalog.
