Judging by the photos and attending narrative posted to Instagram of late, model Gigi Hadid is very proud of her carefully decorated apartment in Manhattan. The project, according to Hadid, was a year in development and fulfillment. It certainly transformed the NoHo space into a contemporary boho fantasy.
Most striking is the use of colors, patterns and materials; carefully selected, combined, contrasted, and juxtaposed, and freely expressed. The feel is engineered, of course; this is not the pad of a 1990s hipster with money to burn, it’s an idealized version of it.
But the final draft works, and it’s so refreshing to see a space that is the product of such careful thought. It is compelling in its composed feeling of effortlessness. The kitchen is particularly evocative, mixing: a bright yellow island cap with butcher block and lower latched cabinets inset with Van Gogh colors; a found item display; cozily tight counter and slightly cluttered shelving; and a flashy, matched marble countertop and backsplash.
Hadid is presently enjoying a little break at her mother Yolanda’s farm in Pennsylvania, but looking forward to spending time in the two-bedroom unit.
