Josh Schwartz—creator of ‘The O.C.’ and co-creator of ‘Gossip Girl’—picked up this rolling, green piece of Sherman Oaks for $8.1 million this summer. The property’s a fairly large one—nearly two and one-third acres, with mature trees, a pool with a cabana lounge, a fire pit, a volleyball court, and walking trails.

The heavily-revised 1952-built home spans over 9,000 square feet. Interiors are dominated by the great room, a gem of a space with a finished cathedral ceiling, and floored with the understated warmth of wide-plank hardwood. Overall, the home at the time of the sale was sporting a clean, well-lighted place of a living style.

Much of the house is single-story, but the house appears to break into a second floor for the sake of the in-law or maid’s suite above the attached garage. The master suite—which contains one of the six bedrooms, and one of the seven baths—is fully realized, with a mirrored walk-in closet and a gaping, spa-like bath.
