If your taste in Hummers deviates from canary-yellow suburban power symbols, you’ll be happy to see that Mil-Spec has more than lived up to its name in delivering its latest build. There’s nary a pretention in this Hummer, only the militant, can-do attitude of the vehicle’s original conception.
Mil-Spec calls it the H1; the name sounds primary, fundamental, and that’s just how this Hummer strikes the eye. This is a vehicle for the end of the world, with overbuilding throughout to keep it going despite considerable travails—including Kevlar in the finish, and aluminum door handles.
The $300K utility vehicle is powered by a massive, 6.6L diesel, which provides it with a whopping 1,000 pound-feet of torque, enough to grunt this beast over hill and dale, and give it substantial towing capacity to boot.
The H1 is designed as a four-door, and features a super-functional open cargo bay in back. The interiors are just as businesslike, but they sneak in a little covert plush: a sound system courtesy of JL Audio, and Nappa leather upholstery.
