In the late winter of this year, George Ruan, the co-founder of popular couponing app Honey, purchased a work in progress: a modern-style mansion in Bel-Air that needed a buyer with $60 million, and then some, to step in and complete it.

Ruan plunked down the $60 million, and the project is presumably now well underway. For a spot to hang his hat now, and/or a guest house for the future when the main house is completed, he shelled out an additional $18 million for the home you see pictured below, which sits on a 1.2-acre lot that abuts Ruan’s larger estate.

At about 6,600 square feet, the two-level house has a smaller footprint, but the grounds, combined with those of the main house, expand the total size of the compound to nearly two acres. It’s a contemporary Mediterranean-style, with a series of upper-level balconies and terraces giving it an expansive indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

The acreage is filled out with a lighted tennis court and a pool and spa with an attached patio. The hilltop location allows for superb views of the city and ocean.
