The Cadillac ELR will be the first General Motors plug-in vehicle to be released with the Cadillac emblem.
This luxury coupe will feature climate-controlled cup holders and motorized door release mechanisms. The interior will be appointed with plush leather, chrome, and wood-trim. The Cadillac ELR will also ship with high-end safety features like lane departure warning and forward collision alert.
Under the hood, the Cadillac ELR is similar to the Chevrolet Volt. It holds a 16.5 kilowatt-hour battery pack, a 1.4-liter ecoFlex gas engine, and a 111-kilowatt electric motor. The electric motor will be capable of traveling 35 miles-per-charge according to Chevrolet. An official EPA fuel economy rating has not yet been issued.
The Cadillac ELR is set to start around $76,000 and will be available for purchase starting in January.
