Here’s a little 2021 model year eye candy courtesy of Daimler-Benz: a quartet of Mercedes and Mercedes-AMG E-Class models.

The Coupe and Cabriolet versions of the E-Class for 2021 include Mercedes E450 and Mercedes-AMG E 53. The cars receive a turbocharged 3L I6 augmented with a 48-volt starter, while the Mercedes-AMG models are outfitted with the same mild hybrid system. The E450’s engine makes 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque; the AMG E 53’s powerplant is good for 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. Nine-speed automatic gearboxes are standard.

For 2021, the cars look a bit more streamlined and concise, losing a bit of the voluptuousness that has dominated Mercedes design over the past decade. The AMG E 63 Coupe and Cabriolet feature the Panamerica grille, with its strong longitudinal lines; the Mercedes E450 gets a less assertive diamond grille, but the fascia of the Mercedes and Mercedes-AMG cars have more in common in their design language than not.

Inside, the E450 cars receive Mercedes’ touch-capacitive wheel, as well as the newest version of MBUX. The AMG E 53 cars follow suit, with a refined performance-oriented interior and Supersport mode representing the icing on the cake.

The newest E-Class models are still months away. Look for them around the last quarter of the year.
