Actor Jason Segel picked up this intensely detail-rich period Spanish-style in Los Feliz in 2015. He fell in love with the home at that time—which wasn’t an unduly exaggerated response; the house is, after all, one of the more spectacularly realized Spanish Eclectics we’ve seen, as effusive as a wildflower garden in full bloom. It did, however, inspire him to shell out more than $400K over ask to call it his: he paid $2.25 million for it.

The house was previously the home of Shepard Fairey, a street artist known for his overtly political, very timely, and sometimes very beautiful works. The home’s appeal to the artistic eye is easy to understand: details include an abundance of hand painted tile, an original front door, a raw timber ceiling with painted beams, a kiva fireplace, ornamental arches, a step-down living room, covered balconies, narrow-plank oak and Saltillo tile floors, a tin ceiling, and French doors and casement windows. The manner in which tile is used to frame the arched entrance and the window exteriors is particularly accomplished.

The master bedroom—simple, bright, and almost unbelievably optimistic—is a standout, as is the kitchen, which is beautifully rendered in glossy black subway tile and a blue located somewhere between royal and cobalt.

Segel is asking $2.75 million for the property.
