‘Poltergeist’ Star JoBeth Williams Downsizes to $9.8M Palisades Home

A few months ago, actress Jobeth Williams and her husband, director John Pasquin, listed their Bel Air home for just under $30 million. A buyer for the property—which borders the Bel Air Country Club—has proved hard to find, which is unfortunate; the reason for the sale is the couple’s acquisition of a somewhat smaller property in Pacific Palisades. That sale closed in late January, with public records showing a $9.8 million selling price.

The Pac Pal property the couple now owns is anchored by a 6,000 square-foot villa that boasts four bedrooms and six baths. The house was built in 2008, but in 12 years has seasoned nicely, the landscaping and creeping ivy filling in to give the exterior a pleasingly historic feel.

The home’s entry features a fountain as a prologue, with column-supported extended roofline and an arched single-door entryway capped with a fanlight and flanked by a pair of planters. The foyer beyond is marvelously unpretentious, with a stone tile floor, a coffered ceiling, and a light fixture which is either period, or an excellent imitation.

The home’s shared spaces frequently open to the property exterior; sets of French doors flank the living room fireplace, and offer egress from the dining room; another pair of sets opens from the family/reading room, which also boasts built-ins, another fireplace, and exposed trussing in raw timber.

In the master, a set opens to the terrace, and another reveals the sitting room and creative workspace adjacent. The bedroom is lengthy, sporting the semi-gloss hardwood used in much of the rest of the home, as well as a small fireplace.

The terrace and step-down pool sunlounge are natural stone, adding to the substantial feel of the property. The lot extends to a little more than a third of an acre, with mature trees and shrubs providing a solid privacy buffer, and a verdant, secretive feel.
